<P>When <a href="/music/artist/usher/artist.jhtml">Usher</a> and <a href="/music/artist/guetta_david/artist.jhtml">David Guetta</a> hooked up for the French DJ's latest album, <i>Nothing but the Beat,</i> the two superstars created a chart-topping smash, <a href="/news/articles/1670301/usher-david-guetta-without-you.jhtml">"Without You,"</a> that combines Guetta's ear for house beats and Usher's ability to convey a range of emotions with his voice. It's a song that has really stuck with fans of all genres of music. </p><div class="player-placeholder right" id="vid:713197" width="240" height="211"></div><p> The track — a swirling pop ode to not giving up on love in the face of adversity — struck Usher with its emotional core. "David Guetta is an amazing artist," he told MTV News last week at a <a href="/news/articles/1674705/justin-bieber-usher-advice.jhtml">Pencils of Promise charity event</a>. "We talked for many years about working together, and we found a record that was incredible." Usher said it was a song that resonated with him personally. "I think the world wanted a record like that. That [song] really spoke to the journey that I've actually been on in the last three years," he said. "Traveling all around the world, music sounds different. There's many different genres, and when you see R&B and pop and house, as well as electronic, come together, that's the reality of what music is." </p><div class="player-placeholder right" id="vid:688619" width="240" height="211"></div><p> When MTV News talked to Guetta on the <a href="/news/articles/1674728/ama-taylor-swift-nicki-minaj-katy-perry.jhtml">American Music Awards</a> red carpet Sunday, he said "Without You" is a standout track on the album. The LP dropped earlier this year and also includes <a href="/news/articles/1674756/american-music-awards-nicki-minaj-david-guetta.jhtml">Nicki Minaj, who performed with Guetta at the AMAs</a>. "It's one of my favorite songs," he said. "It's just, I'm a DJ, so I want to make people dance always, but I also want to give emotions. When it comes to that, 'Without You' is probably one of the most emotional songs that I've done, and yes, I'm very proud of that record." <i>What do you think about "Without You"? Reese, Chris & Tom: "This Means War" UK Premiere!

After months of hard work and dedication, Reese Witherspoon, Chris Pine, and Tom Hardy were finally able to premiere their latest film offering, ?This Means War,? on Monday (January 30).

With director McG also on-hand, the good-looking co-stars arrived in style as they posed for pictures on the red carpet outside the Odeon Kensington Cinema in London, England.

Set to hit US theaters on February 14, the film was initially given an R-rating for ?some sexual content? that mostly came from a character played by the funny but crude, Chelsea Handler.

Shortly after hearing this news, Fox immediately pulled some of the explicit content and got the rating docked down to PG-13.

In addition to her successes as an actress and her respectable reputation, Reese Witherspoon is the envy of millions of Twilighters after working alongside superstar heartthrob Robert Pattinson in not one, but two films — not to mention the fact that she's kissed him too.

When MTV News caught up with Witherspoon recently as part of "MTV First: This Means War," we asked her the first thing that comes to mind when she thinks of her "Water for Elephants" and "Vanity Fair" co-star.

"I would say [he is] the hardest-working person I've ever worked with, honestly," she said. "[He's] professional, hard-working, so appreciative, more grateful than I've ever seen anyone for where he is in life."

Pattinson dished details on how he prepped for his shirtless scene! Kristen Stewart got super embarrassed when looking back at her first MTV interview! Take a look back at the classic "MTV First: Breaking Dawn."

Given the fact that Witherspoon has been in the business for decades and experienced every facet of being famous, we asked her to weigh in on the current fan frenzy that surrounds Pattinson wherever he goes and how it may or may not affect a person.

"I've never experienced what he has — going to premieres and there's just millions of people waiting for him to touch them," she said. "I think it must be strange, but I don't even know how to process what he deals with and Kristen [Stewart] deals with. I don't know."

Justin Bieber revealed the secrets behind his "Mistletoe" music video and why his fans are perfect just the way they are in "MTV First: Justin Bieber."

The Oscar-winning actress said Pattinson handles his fame very well, despite the sometimes-chaotic circumstances. "[He's]a really cool guy," she said.

Reese Witherspoon Opens Up About Acting In 1991 MTV Interview

Reese Witherspoon is slated to sit down with MTV News on Tuesday for an exclusive interview and premiere of a previously unseen clip from her upcoming film "This Means War." The special, "MTV First: This Means War," will air on Tuesday at 7:56 p.m. ET on MTV.

But before we look to the future, we are going to take a peep at her past. MTV News has uncovered a precious vintage gem, a 1991 interview with the then up-and-comer. "Ever since I was 7," the already precocious and sassy rookie told MTV News when asked whether she had always had her sights set on a career in Hollywood. "I just thought, I always wanted to do something really outgoing 'cause when I was little I was really kind of quiet, but you know, I'd always be really creative at home and stuff, and finally I started, you know, speaking out and doing little things to impress everybody."

She further explained that once she had decided that acting was something she wanted to do, she took the necessary steps to make sure she'd be ready for fame and stardom. "I started taking little acting classes and improv classes and, you know, [that] turned out to be what I was going to do," she said. "I was always going to do something really out there, really far away. Does that make any sense? No, not really."

Later mocking herself and her answer, she teased, "That's nice, Reese. That's real nice."

Following the on-air "First" segment, Academy Award winner Witherspoon will stay for an additional 30-minute interview on MTV.com with MTV News' Josh Horowitz. Fans can be part of the action right away by submitting video or text questions on MTV.com or via Twitter by using hashtag #MTVFirst.

"This Means War," the McG-directed comedy-action film, stars Witherspoon as a seductive female dating two of the world's deadliest CIA operatives (played by Chris Pine and Tom Hardy), whose partnership and friendship are put in jeopardy when they begin to battle for her affections. Instead of talking to her about the love triangle, they try to settle the matter using all of the weapons at their disposal.

The film also stars one of Witherspoon's real-life pals, comedian and "Chelsea Lately" host Chelsea Handler, who gives Reese's character the terrible advice that she should continue dating both men.

Nick Offerman Talks 'Juicy' 'Parks And Recreation' Developments

Actor who plays Ron Swanson tells MTV News that 'the evil Tammy Two' returns in the fall.

As the latest season of "Parks and Recreation" rolls along, fans of the quirky NBC comedy have been rooting for the show's leading lady, Leslie Knope, as she tries to win the hearts of the folks in Pawnee, Indiana, by running for a spot on the city council.

But Leslie isn't having all the fun. Pawnee's resident curmudgeon, Ron Swanson (played by Nick Offerman), is finding himself caught up in an unexpected friendship with the always-optimistic government star Chris Traeger (Rob Lowe). As always, Swanson is working to make sure government doesn't run smoothly, and of course he faces the possibility that one of his ex-wives could show up and bring their own brand of trouble to his life.

"If we can help it," Offerman told MTV News at the Sundance Film Festival when asked if there would be a chance to bring back one of his character's former wives, both named Tammy (one played by his real-life wife, Megan Mullally, and the other by Oscar nominee Patricia Clarkson). "I know that there's one juicy story coming up in the fall for Tammy Two, the evil Tammy Two [Mullally]."

But until then, Offerman, offscreen, will be wearing another hat. He recently wrote one of the show's upcoming episodes, and in addition to some more Knope-related election excitement there will also be a shakeup in his character's romantic life.

"Oh gosh. It was so fun and exciting and crazy. The episode is called 'Lucky.' Leslie Knope gets this really lucky interview with sort of the Anderson Cooper of Indianapolis. But then the interview is canceled and it comes back on, and some hilarity ensues," he explained. "Meanwhile, Ron Swanson and Chris Traeger are vying for the attentions of Andy Dwyer's women's studies college professor. It's very funny."

Conrad Murray Not Expected To Serve Full Four Years

Legal expert Mike Cavalluzzi tells MTV News he isn't surprised by sentence but doesn't think it's justified.

<P>Though he dodged a potential four-year prison term, former <a href="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/jackson_michael/artist.jhtml">Michael Jackson</a> physician Conrad Murray was sentenced to an equal amount of time in Los Angeles County Jail on Tuesday (November 29) in the death of the pop singer. </p><div class="player-placeholder right" id="vid:714975.id:1673923" width="240" height="211"></div><p> But the same overcrowding problems that spared the cardiologist from doing time in a federal pen might also save him from serving his entire sentence in county as well. Shortly after the <a href="/news/articles/1675062/conrad-murray-sentence.jhtml">sentence was handed down</a> by Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Michael Pastor, Los Angeles Sheriff spokesman Steve Whitmore told <a href="http://www.eonline.com/news/jackson_family_reacts_conrad_murrays/277336" target="_blank">E! News</a> that Murray would likely end up serving "a little less than two years." Due to overcrowding, most county jail sentences are immediately cut in half, and given the 46 days credit Murray has already been given, he is looking at even less than that. <a href="https://www.facebook.com/mtvnews/posts/199210760161755" target="_blank"><b>Do you think Conrad Murray deserved the maximum sentence? Let us know on Facebook.</b></a> Murray's lawyers said afterward that they believed the sentence was unnecessarily long. "Yes, of course [Judge Pastor] was harsh. He gave the stiffest penalty he was entitled to give under the law," Murray's attorney, J. Michael Flanagan, told reporters. "He was openly hostile. ... [Murray has] led 56 years of exemplary life. He was really dreading [sentencing]. I think anybody would dread going into it. He's an honorable man, and he'll get through this. The family is suffering more than Dr. Murray is. ... Dr. Murray is the provider in that family." Pastor had leeway in the sentencing, with options ranging from probation to the full sentence, but in a lengthy ruling from the bench, he said Murray's lack of remorse and negligent behavior called for the highest possible penalty. "He is and remains dangerous ... the request of probation is denied, the court imposes the high term of four years imprisonment in this case," Pastor said during the 90-plus-minute hearing. Los Angeles-based criminal defense attorney Mike Cavalluzzi told MTV News that he wasn't surprised by the sentencing but that he didn't believe it was justified. Cavalluzzi said Pastor had incentive to give the full sentence because of the prominence of Jackson and his family and to create the perception that he is tough on crime. "He gets that perception by sentencing him to the max while not having to surrender the defendant to the full sentence," said Cavalluzzi, who was not involved in the case. "He gets the self-satisfaction of being perceived as being tough on crime and making the Jackson family happy, but I don't think it was a fair sentence." Cavalluzzi said when deciding prison versus probation, judges have to look at someone's criminal history and whether a person is likely to complete the terms of their probation, which he believes Murray would. "I'm not seeing aggravating factors here, and I think it was just a chapter in [Murray's] life and he does not have a history of being a mercenary doctor always after money, but of being a good, responsible doctor who was seduced by the celebrity and money that Jackson offered," he said. </p><div class="player-placeholder right" id="vid:708788.id:1673923" width="240" height="211"></div><p> As to why Pastor gave such a dramatic, lengthy explanation for why he was sentencing Murray to the max, Cavalluzzi said the judge has to have a justification for his actions in the public record. "Because he doesn't have the discretion to give a high prison term, [Pastor] has to justify his sentence in the record and have very specific reasons for it. I don't think there's any way that anyone truly believes that from this day forward Dr. Murray truly represents a threat to society. That's just ludicrous." And while he doesn't agree with the four-year term, Cavalluzzi said the high-profile nature of the case and the glare of the media could have played into the sentence. "It probably gives [<a href="/news/articles/1675068/conrad-murray-sentencing.jhtml">Jackson's family</a>] great comfort to have someone to blame," he said. " 'If not for this awful man, my son, brother, father would be alive.' But it's not fair to do that and it feels like a capitulating judgment in favor of feeding the emotional needs of the family." Upon leaving the courthouse, Michael's brother Jermaine, when asked if the four-year sentence was enough, shook his head and said, "No." Mother Katherine Jackson told local TV station KTLA, "Four years is not enough for someone's life. It won't bring him back. But at least he got the maximum, and I thought the judge was very, very fair." The prosecution, however, was satisfied with the ruling. "We're pleased. That's what we thought was appropriate. The judge obviously agreed with us," deputy district attorney David Walgren said. "It was our position that it was not a simple, one-time mistake; it was a series of mistakes culminating in the abandonment of Michael Jackson when he died ... the judge agreed with that sentiment. A brother and a son and a family member was killed, and whatever the sentence may be, the family of the victim deserves justice. And we did everything to bring them that justice." As for how much time Murray will spend locked up, Cavalluzzi said it is likely to be less than two years and, frankly, he predicted, the doctor could be out even sooner than that. "He might be eligible for house arrest very quickly," he said.</p>

The Rock Says 'Pain And Gain' Is 'On The Right Track'

'The goal would be to shoot this year,' Dwayne Johnson tells MTV News of Michael Bay action flick.

Although director Michael Bay has frequently mentioned that the next movie he will make is his passion project "Pain and Gain," a smaller-budget action flick based on the real-life story about bodybuilders-turned-kidnappers in Miami, there has yet to be any official announcement regarding a production start date or the confirmation of rumored stars Mark Wahlberg and Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson.

It now appears that that announcement is coming very soon as Johnson recently told MTV News that the movie is full steam ahead and that only a few minor technicalities need to be worked out, like Wahlberg's schedule.

"It's going. We're on the right train and the right track," Johnson told us recently of the film's production status during the press day for his upcoming film "Journey 2: The Mysterious Island." "Often in Hollywood, it's the right train, wrong track.

"It's an awesome project, 'Pain and Gain.' It's been with Michael Bay for several years now. I read it years ago; I loved it and wanted to do it then. He brought it back to me now," Johnson said. "I hear Wahlberg is in talks and it looks like we're going to do it. It's a really, really cool story."

The "Fast Five" star went on to say that the film will be shooting this year in order to accommodate the busy schedules of Bay, Wahlberg and Johnson.

"The goal would be to shoot it this year because [Bay] has 'Transformers' to make, obviously that's a juggernaut. I can't wait for that. Plus, I've got 'Fast Six' business, I've got to hunt Vin Diesel down and whoever else is on my list."

Given the fact that Wahlberg is still in talks and trying to work out his schedule, we asked Johnson if he's thought about sending the "Contraband" star any special gifts in order to get the film solidified and officially greenlit.

"No. Here's my gift: It's The Rock, that's my gift. It's me," he said with a devilish grin. "All of this man and a half."

<P><P>What kind of wedding gift do you give the royal couple who has everything? The wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton is on Friday (April 29), so MTV News reached out to some of our favorite Hollywood celebrities — from Ke$ha to Adam Lambert. Fortunately, they had some solid ideas! </p><div class="player-placeholder right" id="vid:647203" width="240" height="211"></div><p> "I haven't met them, so it would be kind of awkward," the "Tik Tok" singer admitted to MTV News. "I might paint them something. Maybe I'll paint them a guitar." Like Ke$ha, other celebs had suggestions that were from the heart, even if they weren't the most practical. "I will go out on a limb and say these two individuals maybe haven't had Uncrustables before in their life. I would get them a strawberry Uncrustable," Mike Posner said about the pastry. David Cook followed up on the all-American food idea. "I feel like they have everything except maybe they probably don't have an Applebee's gift card. I'll go [with an] Applebee's gift card," the "American Idol" alum said. Other stars said they'd gift the British prince and soon-to-be-princess with an item they were personally best known for. "I'd probably buy William some eyeliner," Lambert said. "He could do that, he could rock that look. I think." Ne-Yo was more empathetic, saying he would give gifts that could help shield them from photographers and blend in with everyday people. "Three years' supply of sunglasses. Yeah, put them on. A bunch of baseball caps, throw those on, and try to move around like regular people," the singer said. "I can't imagine what it would be like having to live under that big of a magnifying glass your whole life ... and fake mustaches, that's what I'd give them." Brooke Burke went the more traditional route, saying she would get Will and Kate a journal to record the big event. "I would ask them to really take the time to write down thoughts and phrases and wishes," Burke said. "And not really to lose sight of how they feel about each other now and to really hold on to that feeling." Kathy Griffin had good intentions but the comedian couldn't resist a puke joke. "If I had to get the royal couple a gift, I would get them the Royal Couple Vomit Bag, which someone sent me a photo of," Griffin told us. "So you can actually buy vomit bags with their image on it, and I think that that is an honor and I hope that they see it as such." <i>What would you give to William and Kate? They join already announced acts Lady Gaga, Ludacris, Lupe Fiasco, Sugarland and Jason Aldean. Country crossover act the Band Perry will perform a full concert of their own after the <a href="http://www.mtv.com/news/grammys">Grammy</a> nominations concert wraps up at L.A. Live's Nokia Theatre. LL Cool J will again host the show, which will air at 10 p.m. on CBS, <a href="http://www.billboard.com/news/rihanna-band-perry-usher-added-to-grammy-1005529002.story#/news/rihanna-band-perry-usher-added-to-grammy-1005529002.story" target="_blank">Billboard.com reports</a>. This marks the fourth year the Recording Academy had held one of these concerts. The awards ceremony will go down February 12 at the Staples Center, and will air live at 8 p.m. Over the course of her career, Rihanna has taken home four Grammy Awards including Best Rap/Sung Collaboration for "Umbrella," two trophies for "Run This Town" (including Best Rap Song and Best Rap/Sung Collaboration) and Best Dance Recording for "Only Girl (In the World)." Rihanna is currently riding high on the forthcoming release of her new album, <a href="/news/articles/1674237/rihanna-talk-that-talk-watch-learn-hit-boy.jhtml"><i>Talk That Talk</i></a>, and two buzzworthy singles, "We Found Love" and "You Da One." Jay-Z Makes Post-Baby Appearance At 40/40 Reopening

Ashanti, Spike Lee, Irv Gotti and more of Hov's high-profile friends toast the new dad at renovated NYC club.

<P><b>NEW YORK</b> — <a href="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/jay_z/artist.jhtml">Jay-Z</a> has a lot to celebrate. A little over a week ago, he and wife <a href="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/knowles_beyonce/artist.jhtml">Beyoncé</a> welcomed daughter <a href="/news/articles/1676906/beyonce-jay-z-baby-born-ivy-blue.jhtml">Blue Ivy Carter</a> into the world, and on Wednesday night, big poppa Hov had a bit of business to attend to at the reopening of his 40/40 Club. </p><div class="player-placeholder right" id="vid:726477" width="240" height="211"></div><p> The stars came out and walked the red carpet before entering the redesigned sports bar. Jay's buddies Warren Buffet, Spike Lee, Steve Stoute, Kevin Liles and New York Yankees pitcher CC Sabathia all attended. "Hov always has big parties, so I'm definitely looking forward to going inside and mingling and jingling," Ashanti said. "We here at the reopening of the 40/40; we about to have a couple of drinks, a lot of beautiful women, New York City, the new joint — you already know," Wale said excitedly. Jigga's 40/40 closed last summer to undergo renovations and is now back with an updated look. While everyone was excited about the new club, baby Blue Ivy was a hot topic on the carpet. Ashanti couldn't be happier for the new parents, but when asked if she had caught a bit of baby fever herself, the "Foolish" singer made it clear that she isn't ready to be a mother just yet. "Oh no, boo-boo, no baby over here. I say it enough in my records," she said with a boisterous laugh. </p><div class="player-placeholder right" id="vid:724136.id:1676907" width="240" height="211"></div><p> Music mogul and record producer Irv Gotti, who has three kids of his own, told MTV News that he shared some fatherly advice with his friend Jay-Z, but he wouldn't reveal any of it. "I'll keep that between me and Hov," Irv said. Then at that very moment, Jay breezed past the carpet trying to dodge reporters and flashing lights, but he did stop to give his old friend some love. After he and Gotti slapped each other five, Jay made a beeline for the 40/40 doors to get the party started.</p>

Emilio Rojas Links With DJ Green Lantern For Big Break

Emilio also enlists J.U.S.T.I.C.E. League and V12 the Hitman for his upcoming mixtape Breaking Point.

Real Spit: Emilio Rojas puts a lot into his lyrics. It's that attention to detail that got him noticed by XXL in December, when the popular rap magazine launched a 50-artist poll for their upcoming 2012 Freshman cover. Though he's a rap newcomer, the Rochester, New York, native has been grinding for years. On Thursday, Emilio will drop his fourth mixtape, Breaking Point, for free online with his mentor DJ Green Lantern.

"It's a little bit of a different sound. Less sample-based sound, a little more synthy, mid-tempo," Emilio told Mixtape Daily of Breaking Point's production.

With beats from the Grammy-winning trio J.U.S.T.I.C.E. League and V12 the Hitman, Breaking Point is shaping up to be the perfect follow-up to Rojas' 2010 tape, Life Without Shame. While his last effort boasted appearances from Big K.R.I.T., Killer Mike, Yelawolf and Mickey Factz, Emilio chose to make BP a solo affair. "I feel like the Life Without Shame project had a lot of rap features on it and I kinda just wanted to rap on my own," he said.

Rojas did include R&B features for his hooks, but no other rapper was invited to take part in the project. The title track finds the nimble-tongued lyricist pouring his heart out with multilayered bars. When talking about his parents, he gets deep. "My daddy learned she was pregnant and he was so angered/ He tried to end it, I'm no stranger to coat hangers/ He getting livid, sittin' in on the clinic visits... he takes it out on my mama 'cause he was into hittin'/ And that's probably the reason my sister is into women," Emilio painfully rhymes.

Not all of Breaking Point is so heavy however. On "I Got it," Rojas explores his wild and ignorant side. "It's gonna catch some people off guard, but it's fun," he teases.

On "Pimpin'," ER once again teams with J.U.S.T.I.C.E. League. At first, Emilio bucked the production trio's direction. He wanted to perform the song's hook himself, but the League's Rook suggested using a seasoned vocalist to sing the chorus. "Rook made me change the hook on ['Pimpin' '], which I wasn't happy about," he said, "but when the hook came in, it was good. Rook made the right call on that."

And Emilio Rojas made the right call with Breaking Point.
